Frank, This is the second "sight unseen" appraisal I have offered today, so it probably is a bit conservative. Here goes. '97 970/440ldr. $14,925. Plus four 3pt. implements, avg. $350 ea. Total $16,325. Sounds like you're getting a $2,500-$3,500 trailer for free if you pay what he's asking! I would encourage you to get a couple more opinions since values vary in different areas. Good luck. Don. Dlr.-OR. ....

sounds like a very good price for equipment. I bought a 870/440ldr, 97 w/167hrs, 72" finish mower, york rake, single plow, 513 JD bush hog , curtis snowplow, weight bucket and suitcase weights and with the turf tires that I wanted for 18k and was happy to get it. Since that purchase no other compacts have shown up in this area for sale. I could have gone to the dealers but they were priced higher with less equipment. The 870,970,1070 are built more on the commercial side and thus are more rugged. You won't get the hydro. trans. but if it has synchro then shifting is fast and smooth. I have since put some heavy work on the tractor and I haven't even stressed it one bit. The 970 is the same configuration as the 870 but I beleive has 5 more hp. I would jump on the deal if the tractor isn't beat. ....

Franks, sound like a good deal. Thats about the same package deal that came with my 870. About the same price I paid but my 870 had less hours. Yes, if you compare the 70's series with the 4000 you will find the 70's are more stout and commercial-like. Just the other day I was at my 870 trans. housing on the left of the pto and noticed "1070" stamped on the housing. They must have put the 1070 trans in the 870?? Anyway its a proven design but lacks the fancy hydro on the 4000. My neighbor bought a new 4300 and sat in the shop on and off all Summer while my trusty 870 was out doing chores. 95% of my work is bushhogging thus I use only ONE gear all day, elimating the need for a hydro. ....
